One of the most common false dichotomies that physique athletes believe is they are “ either on their diet” or “off their diet”. Many believe they are being “good” or “bad” depending on their nutritional choices at any given meal during any time of year.
In our world of gender equality being so present we do have to remember male and females are similar, but still very different. To quote Lyle McDonald, “if you think of your female athletes as ‘little men’ you are probably setting yourself up to be fired as a coach.”
There are some in the bodybuilding industry who for a variety of reasons, try to persuade us (not always knowingly), that this sport is a black or white endeavor. For years now 70 – 80% of my training occurs in my home gym. I’ve had gym memberships. Heck I owned the only gym in town for more than a decade. However, since 2013 when I sold my gym Healthy Bodies Fitness, I’ve gone out of my way to keep up a well-equipped home gym and do most my training at home, on my deck.
