I covered longevity earlier this year, but I figured a good bump is needed every so often to reinforce the value of it regarding one’s approach to training. I’m sure if you’re a young intermediate or new to the iron game, you might not be putting much thought into longevity as you should. With that said, I don’t want you to feel too bad because you’re not alone, as many are simply unaware of how well the investment into longevity will pay off down the road. The long game is surely not a sexy sell in comparison to selling you a bogus “12 week program”, but the realist in me wants to enlighten you on the bigger picture of natural bodybuilding. Natural bodybuilding, plain and simple is not sprint, but rather a marathon that needs to be treated as such. If you happen to be anything like I was during my first decade or so of lifting, then I know your desire for fast progress seduces you and can even imprison you to the “hardcore ways”. If you are like I was, your misguided ego, lack of patience, insecurity and over eagerness creates a haphazard training environment that’s not conducive for long term progress, but rather a risky environment where injury and psychological burnout can become your reality. I’m not trying to convince you not to train hard, but instead I want to be like that smart banker who convinces you that investing in your future builds real wealth. In the video below, I go a little more in depth with the big picture when it comes to your longevity and sustained progress. I hope you enjoy the video, but I want you to embrace the big picture and enjoy sustained progress far more!
