Why would a coach hire a coach? This concept may sound a little strange at first, however if you think about it, the rational is quite sound. People who hire coaches do so, because they want to get better themselves. Even if they have the knowledge and skills, having a coach to consult with, and provide objective feedback, can be very valuable.
In today’s episode, Brad, Andrea and Eric discuss how they coach other coaches, and the different forms this coaching can take, at different levels. Sometimes coaching this population takes a high level of input, while other times it becomes a “consulting” relationship, rather than a traditional “coaching” relationship.
All of the 3DMJ coaches have had a coach in the past (or have one now), and will continue to have some form of a coach in the future. Join us this week to learn why having a coach, as a coach, can be beneficial.

This episode was awesome overall. Talked over issues very crucial to coach and athlete alike that may get overlooked. Neat to see how you guys do your thing relative to how I do mine with tactical athletes as well as how past coaches worked with me relative to my current coach. I also liked the insights on why you guys use your own coaches as well. Lastly and most importantly, the subject of being a personal trainer even with lots of experience DOES NOT make one a bodybuilding coach even if they have competed or not (it sure helps). General health and fitness goals for gen pop as you put it are starkly different than an acute goal of getting abnormally lean and stage ready. This applies both ways in that a great bodybuilding coach may not be a good personal trainer for gen pop folks who require far less strictness, discipline, sacrifice and detail as a stage client would. Trainers and coaches really need to hear that part!

That’s so cool how you found it in relation to your tactical peeps! I don’t know much about that world, so it’s very interesting that you found some similarities.
Totally agree on the gen pop vs bodybuilder stuff times a million… It’s one of the most common misjudgments we see in young personal trainers (and many of us made that mistake early on as well lol)
