Many bodybuilders start to panic when they are dieting and progress either stalls in the gym, or “God forbid”, starts to back slide. It’s what often times either keeps people from participating in physique sports, or is the reason they pull the plug on a prep that might actually be going great. I touched on this a few years ago in a video and it can be found on the Team 3DMJ YouTube channel using the link below. Here are a few things to think about when you are dieting hard and progress starts to go the wrong direction. [Read more…]
There are two observations I would like to go over before we can start playing around with this hard to find and exotic piece of equipment….just kidding. I know it may seem like the goal of this series is to force you into getting three gym memberships, but more than anything, my goal is to help you build up your toolbox. With that being said, onwards with this blog post. [Read more…]
The past decade we’ve seen tremendous strides in contest preparation methods that have yielded bigger and more conditioned bodybuilders stepping on stage than ever before. While advances in our understanding of exercise and nutrition play a role, we also should give credit to the athletes themselves for their execution. As some of you know I am feverishly working very close with the team at 3DMJ on a “Deload and Tapers Guide.” Good news is that we are coming close to finishing. This month I made a discovery via coaching one of my athletes that is so good, it is worth adding to our book. [Read more…]
Don’t get me wrong, I love me some good barbell movements! They are both practical and effective when performed correctly. I highly recommend centering a proper strength training around these core movements, be it a barbell hip hinge movement, barbell chest press variation, or simply hanging from a bar (bell) and doing some form of pull-up. It’s hard to believe it’s been exactly 4 years since I created my 5-part series on “Weight training with spine disorders.” Believe it or not, much of the information I covered in that series I still do to this day. [Read more…]
